![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | End of the sailing ship week Hi All, Well the weeks finished now. We managed to get 6 dives done in total with the longest run time just over 100 minutes. The wreck's depth allowed us to cater for both Tech-1 and Tech-2 teams successfully. We owe thanks to several people. Grahame Knott, Tom and Monkey for running the boats and ensuring we were looked after on deco. Grahame's knowledge of wrecks was essential to the project and a massive help. David Wallace, Dive Dorset & Silent Planet helped us in numerous ways with gas supplies, access to a compressor and accepting various deliveries for us. Casey McKinlay, Halcyon and the WKPP for loaning us two 200W HMI video lights. Tom from Dive Dorset for coming in on thursday evening to help us blend some mix. Finally myself and the rest of the boat are all grateful to Andy Kerslake for organising the week and sorting out all the logistics. Thanks all Al |

![]() ![]() | Thank you DIR-UK I would also like to extend my thanks to all involved and for making me feel so integrated and at home, and especially Andy for organizing this and inviting me over. Thanks to all who lent me lots of gear; bottles, regs etc. I thoroughly enjoyed myself during the 2 days I was over. I believe that participating in projects / expeditions of this sort is a great way to complement ones training with real world diving experience – I highly recommend you all to take hold of future opportunities; or better yet create new opportunities J Best, Ricardo PS1: All the moaning and complaining that the British go on about, because of the local bad weather conditions is just bulls***. I got more sun burned during these last 3 days than during the 2 weeks in Mexico :-) I think it’s just their way of trying to keep “foreigners” out of their diving spots ;-) PS2: Let me just repeat my invitation, and kindly encourage you to RyanAir your way into Portugal to enjoy some beautiful and unspoiled local caves (http://www.entrada.tv/Projectos/BDGrutas/Alviela/Visitas/V060624/Video/ALV_060624_H.wmv) ;-) |

![]() ![]() | Well what do you say after that week - the weather gods just for a change smiled favourably upon us. We moved tons of kit between various boats, vans, quay sides etc. The site is remote and relies on good weather and good tides to dive her, we managed to get some great video, and equally great stills. There is still much to do, including studying all aspects of the footage and of course the stills, all of this may yet yield more clues as to the ships identity. What a great team everybody without exception worked hard to ensure success. We had some ups and downs which were to be expected, we learnt a huge amount, and will continue to learn and improve. It was really good to see an international team working toward a common goal. None of this would have been possible without the assistance of Grahame Knott - Skipper extraordinaire, David Wallace - Gas supplies, and compressor, and Casey McKinlay HMI lights. Okay, so what next, eventually this wreck may reveal its secrets, it was even suggested that we need to do the same again next year - well watch this space Regards Andy |
