I'm a no on the basis that I don't need one. That could all change one day, as I just discovered I rather like caves

But for the wreck diving I do/will do, not necessary.

If I were getting into really deep stuff or long cave things then I think they come into their own so yes. Plus it's a mega shiny toy :D

I picked not sure. I don't need one at the moment, OC gives me enough time underwater for my comfort level and I'm planning a scooter so I'll be able to cope with 3 stages any issues. Talking to some experienced DIR guys, OC with 3 stages is good for dives up to 70 odd metres (230 feet) which covers most UK diving opportunities.

Currently No.

In the future, yes probably. However until I get to the point that I need more gas than a large twinset and 3 or 4 stages can give me I can't see the need.

It is a tool to be used when it is NEEDED, not just because it's an interesting looking toy.

There are a lot of additional risks associated with rebreathers.

Not DIR Style it isn't

to be honest I too hanker after a CCR in some ways - I can not help but wonder if some day we will get an approved one.

The RB80 is fantastic and can be argued is much safer than the current crop of Rebreathers but it is expensive for an SCR.

Would I get one? Well who knows but certainly not until I have done a lot more training and have the dives that neccesitate what is after all an expensive and risky tool.

current hankerings if i went down that route would be for a KISS...

for the simple reason

If money were no object... of course, since you would already be diving all the time and probably be pushing towards the sort of dives where one is necessary.

However, I would definately consider a scooter before RB - much cheaper and alot more fun
