EKPP Reflectors - any good?

Does anyone have experience of using on these reflector heads with a Salvo? Is it worth spending the extra money on one?

Rob,

I picked one up for my Salvo 21W. Definitely changes the beam characteristics - in a good way. Someone had suggested that it wouldn't would make much of a difference due to the 21W bulbs being shorter in length than the 18W Welch Allyns. I found it cleaned up the throw of the beam and provided a tighter target area when focussed.

It is considerably larger than Barry's standard lighthead, so keep that in mind if you are putting it into an existing carry case. It all fits just nicely into my pelican case.

The only issue I've had with it to date is the swelling of the nylon focusing screw - which made it impossible to adjust underwater. I dropped down to the local hardware store and picked up a SS version and I've had no issues since.

I'm happy with the purchase.

Cheers,

Cali

I have the newest Halcyon reflector fitted by Richard Johansson in Sweden and have compared the beam with the EKPP and others.

The new Halcyon definately seems to be the way ahead.

For infor it has no #3 on the reflector, extended shroud like the EKPP but smaller in diamerter giving a more defined tight spot.

I'm sure there are a few on here that have seen it?

But to answer your question.......Yes! :D

I got the EKPP reflector for my Salvo too, have to say that I found it made a lot of difference.. Well worth it, NikNak supplies them next day or thereabouts.

Dave.

The std Salvo reflector hasn't had the No 3 in for quite a while now either.

Same problem here - I've been through 2 now and they all end up stiff (hadn't thought about swelling though). You don't happen to recall the thread size needed do you? I tried my old Halcyon screw and that doesn't fit.

Cheers

Joe,

I just checked the container of the ones I purchased - M6 x 15mm. I hope that helps. The 15 mm is a little longer than required, but perfectly ok to use.

I just took the reflector and screw down to the hardware store until I found one that would fit nicely. Took all of about 5 mins.

Cheers,

Cali
