![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OK…….. Seriously now……… This is by far the coolest thing I have ever seen. It use to be that you had to pay this amount for a video camera and housing ……now you get a scooter to go with it…… We will have some of these on the MV Tala for the 2007 season for sure... |

| Chillin' with the ninjas | Some Qs I assume you can't fit HD to this? How do you turn it on or off? White balance? Is it just a turn on, seal the hull, leave running set up? It is a very good quality low light (0.05 lights) camera - basically if the human eye can see it then the camera will pick it up. It is not HD but it is *very* good. The system was designed for the underwater CSI folk who *have* to video everything for the evidence to be used in a court of law, so it is a set-up and go system with no on / off control during the dive. So it is a case of connecting it up and jumping in to record the entire dive. I thought it would be a great tool for videoing courses like fundies. The camera is so good that the reds and yellows are picked up nicely without the need for filters etc. The footage I saw shot with this thing was taken at 90ft in low res without any form of lighting rig and it looks like it was shot in 3ft of tropical water. The stuff they shot in a cave used a single UK 9W HiD mounted on the lead scooter and it looks great. It is entirely up to the user what is used as a recording device, Dive-Xtras can ship a small camcorder if that's what you want to use but you can use pretty much any small form device with ntsc input including a HDD recorder if you want to capture several hours worth of video. Anyone looking to shoot video underwater who doesn't *need* broadcast quality HD should seriously look at these - the scooters are a very stable video platform, it has no impact of the handling of the scooter and it leaves your left hand free to do other stuff.
