Light handle & using a scooter...

What are scooter divers doing to modify their light handles so it allows shifting of your light from your left hand to the right hand easily. Halcyon makes an "Explorer handle" , but it wont fit their 10 watt HID or allow you to slip your drygloved (blue glove with liner) hand into their ring on the handle. We are cold water divers and we are looking for any input from people on this forum.

Thanks in advance,
Jim

want a better option...

I have been just slipping the goodman from left hand to right thumb. I want to improve my light management (beam direction and control). I know that I am not the only person who wants to do this. I have 4 other people with Gavins and 1 other person with a X that want to do the same thing. As I see that this is a forum that has members that dive with scooters and dry gloves I was interested in a better option.

We are to get the ball rolling on our own handle design, we just need ideas and feedback.

Does the person with X also have this problem?

Have a look at my blog for a DIY alternative

The Phreatic Zone » Exploration Goodman Modification

I have since chopped an old reflector and am using it like the Halcyon version.

Thanks for the link...

Thanks for the link Rick. This will help us with our options.

Dre - The X scooter guys still has to shift his hands eventhough his trigger handle does not give him as big of a problem as us Gavin users have. It will also be nice to be able to use his light as a back up if any of our (Gavin users) lights breaks down.

Mucho cheapness

Because I use dry gloves in winter I made my own thumb tube that fits my thumb perfect ..Move lighthead to lefthand side of Goodman and I went and bought a piece of plastic Kitchen waste pipe that carrys water to drain in black of course its about 2 1/4" dia and attached it via couple of stainless steal bolts It looks neat and cool and best bit it cost about $2 ..away at work or would have sent a photo .

Cannot belive some people would pay top dollar for the Halcyon one

If you are buying a new Pro 14 the Explorer head works out about £25 more than the normal goodman handle - so I got one. Love it - but not sure how it will work in drygloves given people's posts. Not that big a deal to hold it by means other than the loop though - like a normal light head.

Some people just like to buy it already done. To each their own. The most important thing is that you can use the light to signal while on the scooter. DIY or Buy - it don't matter.

Diving is fun.. right? :D

I just added a SS band clamp to the outside of my wife's dive-rite goodman to allow her to slip her thumb in. There wasn't enough room for a dry gloved thumb otherwise.
