| Custom User Title | Buying a scooter Hello, I planning on buying a scooter and at the moment I think it'll be the X-scooter. Does anyone here have any experience with this that they would like to share. Especially in regards to Cave diving with this scooter. Cheers Jonas |

| Jock Exley | Jonas, you may want to post an introduction about yourself in the introduciton forurm first, so we can see what and where your coming from. Also see this thread http://www.direxplorers.com/speciali...g-scooter.html --------------------------- X-Scooters are yet un-proven in Cave environments IIRC and the trend leans towards the Gavin or Silent Submersion DPV. X-Scoots are however ideal for ocean boat diving due to their weight and nimbleness. I believe there are a few guys on here with some who will no doubt provide comment later on. Good luck

| GUE Instructor Site Admin | For one, I know that Chris B on the board has an X scooter. Hopefully he will drop by and set out his thoughts for you. In the meantime, welcome to DIR X. Tell us a bit about yourself on the intro thread and enjoy the boards.

| Administrator | I posted this else where as well but Tobin at www.deepseasupply.com is bringing out a NIMH battery pack for the X Scooter which will give it same run time as long body Gavin in a much shorter lighter easier to handle package! I will invite Tobin here. Stuart |

| GUE instructor | Tobin is bring out a Li chemistry battery. US1600 mmm I'll stick with SLA I would not touch NiMH batteries with a scooter esp in a cave. You cannot guarentee full charge and there is no easy to check. I also dive SLA for lighting too for the same reason. X-scooter: after seeing how the designer treated a couple of friends here in the Philippines on thedecostop I wouldn't go near them. Brushless motor also has not been tested and needs electronics to control it (read extra faliure point) Also, did I mention that an X-scooter blew up here? Cheers, Graham |

Hi Graham,We got the attempted smear kicked from the local forum in Sg, but I've never seen a proper response with the real story ... care to share ? Personally I wouldn't buy an X or a Gavin ... gotta love my SS :D |
