Halcyon's new wing

http://www.halcyon.net/mc/Halcyon_ExplorerCCR5.pdf

I don't know what to think. I almost seems that Haclyon is promoting the use of CCRs, very non-DIR per my understanding.

Is Halcyon going more mainstream? The new knife with tank banger and sheath with velcro closure, now this?

I feel there might be a Sith lord amongst the senate...

LOL - I don't think they are promoting CCR diving. They are listening to the customers that have used their wings for OC and/or SCR. Why pigeon hole yourself into one market?

Now to be fair here, nowhere does it seem to promote CCR diving

I did think the KISS guys preferred things like the Agir or Oxycheck though, but of course this wasn't available either until now.

Does look darned wide at the bottom though, but I suppose that could just be the picture with no point of reference.

So Megs with an H on then next ? Anthony ?

I used an AGIR 38, which is great for this KISS.

Didn't one Inspo owner put an H sticker on his unit? And then bumped into JJ? I believe that JJ saw it and said: "I didn't realise we made those..."

I believe the owner of that particular inspo has renamed it the "Halspiration" and it's in black (of course)

CCRs have counter lungs full of gas and scrubbers full of gas. As a result the upper half of the diver tends to dominate in the buoyancy arena. A wing specifically designed to provide lift at the bottom of the unit (like this) is perfect.

I hate to say it but as it might be on my shopping list.

For CCR divers it looks like a good design but i would have preferred greater lift capacity (ccrs need a lot of bailout) and a link to the lower cells across the bottom.

The OMS one that Kevin is going to put on the Boris soon might be better in this respect Mark, I'd look into that before rushing to pay Halcyon prices.

I'd just buy the right tool for the job, and make sure it suits my diving. Price not a concern when it comes to the safest and right piece of equipment for me, i don't scrimp on safety. But looking into all alternatives is a good idea.

Good point Brian, Kevin has designed and built a CCR so he should be able to come up with a wing, Halcyon don't make a CCR and therefore probably aren't the people the CCR fraternity should be running too.
