![]() | Salvo dual 24W HID/9.6A Li-Ion feedback Does anyone use the Salvo dual 24W Li-Ion HID videolights? I am looking for a light system for my Bluefin HD housing and wish I could afford new or find a good used set of Halcyon Apollo dual 50W HID. I have instead started to look at the Salvo light (no politics please) and wonder if anyone have any feedback and or knowledge about the quality/intensity of these lights. They apparently have an output of 1800 lumen each and a color temperature of 6000 Kelvin. Burntime/battery charge is 2,5 hours. With the dual 50W HID I would get 60 minutes of burntime on a 13.5A NMH battery, but more light... How do the Salvo video lights compare to the dual 50w and the rest of the market? Anders |

![]() | I have the Salvo twin 24watt video lights with a 13.5ah cannister although Im using a 9ah battery as I had a spare. They have been working fine since I bought them last year. Nice white light also, much brighter than my Helios 9/18. I considered the twin 50 watt HID's but: I think the Welch Globes are too fragile. The 18 watt Globes are around A$350 here in OZ. I believe the 50 watt globes are US$450 each which is about A$600 here. Having had to replace a couple of 18 watt globes over the last couple of years, i was reluctant to risk the 50 watt HID Globes. ![]() | I have had my H 18/13.5 for almost two years now and the WA bulb is still holding up... (knock on wood :-)) I can see that the WA bulbs are the weak point in the system, but what a light they produce, what a light..... I just wish someone made the same lights with a different bulb. I guess Salvo can't make the 50W system, or rather find a different 50W bulb and ballast that fits their system. WA makes the 50W bulbs on special order, and Halcyon bought up the remaining stock they had after WA stopped general production. Anders |
