![]() | Hello To all Hello all Just figured I would say hello and drop a small note As this trip is a way off, I just wanted to get an idea of the areas divers wanted to see Personally I would very much like to dive inside the flow and as John G has said the HMS Hampshire (68m), HMS King Edward VII (105m) and HMS Pheasant (85m). However I am a little unsure of what else everyone would like to do. We have a couple of guys this side of the pond that are tech 1 so these are a little deep although we do have over a year to get things sorted out if they wish. What is the situation with the Hampshire and getting a permit ? Who is planning on using a RB ? Cheers Dean

However I am a little unsure of what else everyone would like to do. We have a couple of guys this side of the pond that are tech 1 so these are a little deep although we do have over a year to get things sorted out I'd like to do some of the sites outside the flow. I've had two trips within the flow (both were good) but I'm guessing that the chance to dive some of the other wrecks is much more limited - so if we've got it, I'd say, let's go for it. if they wish.If we're seriously considering 85/105m dives, then perhaps some work up is in order for those of us who recently got T2 and accordingly currently have little experience beyond (say) 70m. It's perhaps worth noting that a couple of sites have suggested that the HMS King Edward VII is in 115m, not 105m - I'm not sure which it is. At the risk of diverting the thread.... 85m seems relatively easy to work up to (assuming that the UK weather holds), if some of next years' DIR-UK dives were to be on wrecks in deeper water standing sufficiently proud of the bottom to provide a deep option whilst still remaining in the qualification range of T1 divers. However 105m (or 115m) seems significantly beyond what I've done so far and I doubt that the diving I currently have scheduled between now and the trip would be sufficient work up. Do those (in the UK) think that there's likely to be sufficient demand for diving in the 70-100m range to schedule suitable boats for work up dives (which presumably should be rather good dives in their own right)? I'm also guessing that these dives won't really be achievable on double 12s. Would we be looking at double 18s? Slightly more back to Dean's original post... I understood that the plan was to do three sites a day with two of them being T1 level - so as to give everyone a chance to do two dives and to let suitably qualifiied divers do the deeper stuff without this constraining the others. ![]() ![]() | Diving the Hampshire is extremely unlikely - we have a number of people working on it (Clare), I think if we can manage to get on it - it should be considered as an unbelievable bonus. It would definately be good to get the Tech 1 boys through to Tech 2, and then we have choice everywhere. Andy |
