Links wanted for university work on Florida Groundwater.

Hi folks,

I'm at university in Norwich studying Environmental Sciences and have a nice big essay to be working on. The topic I've chosen is to do with Florida groundwater resources.

What I am aiming to work on is the nature of the groundwater supplies in the state, the use and reserve capacity that could be utilised, future issues (eg. population rise leading to greater demand) and the risk of saline intrusion should sea level rises occur as some predict.

My university library has a huge number of texts and sources on the science of groundwater along with many of the social and political issues around it's use. What I don't have too much access to in paper form are statistics and such on the state of Florida (not too suprising I guess ).

Does anybody have any useful links to government or scientific websites that might have this sort of information. I will probably have to restrict it to those sort of sites due to the issues of information reliability and the amount of referencing that I will be doing.

Thanks in advance.

Pete

You need to get in touch with Todd Kincaid (kincaid@hazlett-kincaid.com). He has more information about this stuff than you can shake a very big stick at, and is very very passionate about it.

HTH

I think that would be most appropriate. Of course they'd need to fund me up to Cave 2 level as well so I could fully appreciate the nature of the underground water systems

Pete,

Honestly - give it a go. Many moons ago I got funding via the AWARE Foundation to study Marine Reserves, only got as far as Skomer though, mainly 'cos I'm a lazy bastard and couldn't be bothered to apply for all the grants, etc available.

One of my mates got to go to the red sea and learn to dive, all funded in the name of science :-) (But he was at a better Uni than me

Just being a cheeky bugger and bumping this one again. I've got an email going off to Todd Kincaid but if anyone else happens to be a closet hydrologist then don't be afraid to come out
