direxplorers Alexa stats

Alexa stats of the direxplorers site in the % of users per country: UAE is in third position, just a hair behind the UK. Wonder how that is, considering we have only four and a half DIR-types in the country... unless Ali Fikree got bent while I was away and handles his computer mouse Parkinson style?

Edit: typo in the title... can't correct... MOD help please: should say "Alexa", not Alex...

Yes, kind of strange... unless the "bot" that keeps signing up junk users in in UAE. I am also surprised that the US number is so high - unless a lot of people are browsing from behind firewalls that have US proxy exit points..

I also checked the stats of thedecostop, and believe it or not, UAE is in second position, when we have maybe 20 tech divers in the country...!?

I'm not sure about these results, since Croatia is ranked pretty high and I'm one of very few members from Croatia. Or maybe it's time to stop browsing forums

and stick up to my job.

Alexa builds its stats based by people browsing who have the Alexa toolbar installled. So if you don't have the toolbar then it doesn't include your browsing. The principle is they have a big enough user base then their stats are accurate.

I'd guess someone in UAE has it installed while very few other users of the board do. Alexa isn't that reliable unless you are a bigger website then the averaging it provides is usually acceptable.

What about "Google Analytics" statistics for dirx? I think GA is a little more credible than Alexa.

looks like if you're a big site, alexa gives you good stats on your userbase,but if you're a small site then the stats are a more accurate estimate of Alexa's userbase. I hope you're charging them for the analysis

I look at the site once or twice a day.

Decostop is probably from when Phi lived here but I lurk on it quite often.

I am aware its off topic but with a few UAE bods on here can anyone tell me what the diving is like over there. I am starting new task and will be traveling through Dubai on a regular basis. Is there anywhere there where I can hire decent equipment and is it worth diving there.
