![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The continuing story of my sinuses... As some of you know I've been having sinus problems for a while now (since 11th March to be exact) and after getting nowhere with my GP I got referred, went private and saw a specialist last night. The problem is my LH frontal sinus (just above the left eye). I need a CT scan to be sure but he reckons it will require surgery. God knows how he's going to get to above my eye via my nose. In fact I don't think I want to think about it! So then, anyone want to swap some dive gear for a set of golfclubs? ![]() |

If your specialist doesn't know about diving, there's a few well known diving doctors/referees who you can contact through the diving medical committee and get their opinion on the time that you'll need off hth vid |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just look at the surgery as a quick job with a posthole digger or a rotorrouter job. If those 2 examples still leave you cold remember back when people had septic tanks and the nice man on the truck came by to empty the septic tank? That's about what having your sinuses scraped out is like, just be happy that they do it under general anesthesia so you won't have to hear the surgon say "Oh shit, why did that have to happen." The last 2 times I had a sinuses "D&C" done I was unable to dive for 2 weeks after the operation, my ENT recommended getting back in the water as soon as possible since contact with saltwater aids the healing. No colds for 3 yars after the operation, and usually don't start buying kleenex again for at least 5 years after the operation. Equalizing is real easy, too. The only problem is when I have my head on the side and pour "ear beer" in one ear after a dive it runs out the other ear:-) But that might have something to do with my use of dental floss to clean my ears. Good luck, from a guy who has it done about every 10 years. Michael Last edited by Michael-Fisch; July 31st, 2006 at 03:55 PM. |
