Bl**dy ISPs and emails

WHY WHY WHY WHY has my ISP just seen fit to deliver 769 emails, some going back as far as the 3rd of April.

If someone can shed some light on this monumental piece of incompetence I would be most grateful.

On another more important note, if anyone is thinking why hasn't that miserable bast*rd Knackers replied to my email , then that might be why.

Apologies on behalf of my useless ISP, I will now spend christ knows how long sifting out all the "Want a Bigger P8nis ? " mails and try and see how many fed up customers I am left with.

If any suppliers have mailed for any reason (Tord and Tobin mainly) then the apology extends to you guys of course also, I will try and get through this mess tonight.

It's bad enough trying to run a business without this cr*p.

Still I now know another 500 plus places to buy Viagra, so all is not lost

You own your own business and you don't have your own mail server with spam and virus filtering?

I stopped relying on other people to deliver and receive my email 5 years ago, and I live in Egypt. Surely in Europe you have some inexpensive way of doing the same.

Hassan,

The costs of a close connection to the backbone here are stupidly high, I have investigated this a cpl of times recently.

Servers are cheap enough, but getting a decent speed without too many "hops" or "jumps" or whtever they're called then forget it unless you are British Gas or similar.

I do know what you mean though. I cannot undestand it to be honest as a few people I know have their hosting with them and have no problems.

Ah well, onwards and upwards.

Phill, for email all you'd really need is a broadband connection with a static IP address - I host my own email server on a 1 meg ADSL connection, and for several years it ran perfectly well on a 512k connection.

You can check the headers of the emails which contain a delivery history for each server they have passed through. You might find that they were delivered quickly by your ISP, but got held up somewhere else first. On the other hand you might find they got help up by your ISP

Check 'em out and if necessary give your ISP hell - these days there's no excuse for a poor mail service!
