Cool Planet Earth on TV later (in the UK that is - much later elsewhere!)

Tonight's Planet Earth (BBC1 9pm) is about Caves. The advert showed a bit underwater - hopefully there'll be some good footage.

Cheers

Jonathan

Read this too late, otherwise I might have called my parents to record it (do not have a tv in my flat). Pitty.

Footage was good IMO. I was impressed by the beauty of it. The squeeze bit was a bit theatrical but all in all nice.

Twas interesting. Esp the squeeze bit - found I was saying out load to myself "f*** that s***"!

I couldn't tell whether they were DIR or not. What made you say they weren't, other than a pair of blue fins? I kept getting distracted by the scenary!

Purely the fact that they were using flutter kick rather than the more approved frog kick and the fact that one of them held his light head in the wrong hand.

That's just me being picky though. Didn't really see enough of the divers to be sure either way.

Theatrics is one thing (amazing what some producers want to see - remember the diver on the scooter who was told to flutter kick as it didn't look real enough if he did nothing)

But why do you say that they were not DIR Jason? Hard to tell I thought - apart from the blue fins that is.... definately not Lights were being held in both hands to aid in lighting up the cave for the video (noted on the basis that some were pointing backwards) and we don't just use frog kick you know.... as you will find out on your fundies course.

In fact the group who helped the BBC in this were the Group of Exploration of Ox Bel Har - you will find a few familiar names in there

54 days and counting til I get to go.... yay!

The GEO isn't DIR, Clare. Some of the members are DIR divers but the project itself is not specifically. I've dived with Sam & Bil, they are not DIR divers. Sam was involved in the filming (he runs a film production company, Makachik Productions), I don't know if that's him on screen as I haven't seen it.

At least one of the divers shown was wearing Mares Avantis.
