| New Member | toxic algae bloom studies? OK, my apologies for another geek question from me Does anyone know of research done on the dispersion of toxins from algae blooms? Asking for a friend working with a local university... Any help would be appreciated - open response or PM.Thanks in advance! Dawn |

Obviously this will heavily depend on the toxin itself, it's composition and stability in a particular environment. Please excuse my ignorance - HK? THe only thing I can think of is Hazlett-Kincaid ;-) Thanks for the response! Dawn |

| New Member | Thanks to everyone for the input through PM or posting. Funny enough, our search has revealed that there is someone very close to where I live doing this type of research at the University of South Carolina - he started on manmade toxins and is turning his attention to those produced from HAB's (harmful algae blooms). For those of you who expressed interest, here is a link to Dr. John Ferry's research and publications: http://www.chem.sc.edu/people/facult...ils.asp?SID=12 Apparently, from messages I have received, this area of research is growing fast. Cool! Thanks again for the help everyone! Best, Dawn Last edited by Dawn; March 20th, 2006 at 10:36 PM. |

Hong Kong it is.HK - Hong Kong :D Plenty of HAB dispersal modelling stuff done there - it maybe in engineering journals Graham Well, I guess unfortunately we biochem types don't mingle much with them engineerin' types Maybe we should more often Thank you again - will look into this source, as well.
