Center Parcs - France or Something Similar

Well being that this is quite an international board, I thought I might ask it's advice.....

I have a non-diving wife and 2 small kids (6-F, 3-M) and am looking at the summer holidays now. Last year we went to Canada and hired a motorhome for 3.5 weeks and drove round the Rockies and stayed on Vancouver Island - f**king magic but I don't have another 7.5k to spend on a holiday for this year even though the kids keep asking to go back (we might do for good but that is another story)!

I was looking at somewhere closer and somewhere that is pretty self contained and very child friendly. Jen and I would like a rest too when we go on holiday! Carys (6 yr old) said, can we go to Center Parcs, meaning the one down the road from us in Wiltshire, UK? Mmmm, no, but I know there are a couple in France.

Has anyone been to the French Center Parcs resorts or something similar, we would look for a couple of weeks starting 28th(ish) Jul 06. We want somewhere warm, but not too scorchio, and somewhere they can get wet in swimming pools and slides etc, somewhere that has horses would be even better....We would look to drive there to save on costs and gives us some more freedom when we get there.

Thanks in advance

Gareth

Hi M8

I did Center Parks a few years ago and I felt it was good but expensive. It would have been cheaper to go abroad.

We did Alton towers last year for a long W/end and i was impressed. The water them park is great and we couldn't prise my 9 and 7 year old out of it all day. The main theme park is probably geared for kids a little older but It was still great fun. We staid at a local B&B and this made the trip reasonably cheep and we ate on site at Alton Towers and the Water park.

Apart from that Disney Land Paris was fantastic and we good a great deal on an on site hotel and park entry package. The only down side is the cost of food. It was masivly expensive so id advise eating off site. That said the food was excellent and had my kids been older and able to appreciate what it was they were eating i wouldn't complain but £90 a night for food was a bit steep when they left most of it.

Any how, not a great help but the kids are off to France tomorrow and are going to visit a couple of theme parks with their niece so Ill let you know how they get on.

ATB
