Team Training - GUE's continued efforts to involve everyone in a one man task

Just been sent this via email and thought it quite funny, sorry if it's been posted before..

GUE is pleased to announce an update to its training program for managing pee-values. As part of our continued process to involve the team in dive events, we have reviewed our approach to the use of pee-values and have amended our training procedures accordingly.

From now on, any use of a pee-valve should be considered a team activity. The correct procedure from now on is as follows:

1. The pee-value diver "pvd" should signal his intention to pee to his team mates.
2. The buddy (or 1 of the team-mates if there are 3 divers), should then open the pee-value.
3. If part of a team of 3, once the pee-value has been opened to a sufficient degree, the buddy should signal to the other team member to check that the value has been correctly opened. This signal should be done using the appropriate hand signal. The signal is to cup the hand as though gripping a brush-handle, with thumb touching index and middle fingers and motion up and down.
4. Once both buddies are satisfied that the value has been opened correctly and sufficiently, they should signal to the pvd that he may proceed.
5. The buddies should be prepared to hand-off a regulator in the event of an OOA incident during this process having used both type 1 and type 2 s-drill methodologies to ensure the long hose is not trapped.
6. Once peeing has completed, the pvd must signal his buddies that he is finished.
7. One buddy should then close the value and the other should verify closure and signal to the pvd that the process has been safely completed.

It is strongly recommended that this be carried out using the left-hand as there may be situations where the right hand is occupied driving a scooter. Divers should also practice this procedure while scootering to ensure that the skill is automatic.

you wannag?

There was this movie I saw when I was a little kid. I think it was a drive-in and my mom closed my ears while I laughed about it. I think sylvester stalone said: "If you wanna go piss, then go piss. If you don'a'a'wanna go piss, donn'a'go piss"

It was said in an extreme italian acsent and for some reason, I was just reminded of that.

I sense a divergence in the force. Presumably Rule No 2 will follow shortly?

no no no. teamwork starts with the pre-dive preparation. a support diver needs to hold the 'hose' while.... ok, you get the idea

So when are we going to stop the personal preference lark and standardise the distance down the thigh that the valve should be mounted...

I just hope the "Dump Valve" doesn't confuse people.

I really don't want to know how that mis-interpretation might be manufactured installed or operated.

The DUMP-VALVES you talk of are available, but they are not DIR because their use is incompatible with the use of scooters. If your spare scooter is trailing from your Butt D-Ring and happens to actuate while you are using the valve....

well lets just say I wouldn't want to be around when the shit hits the fan.

If you still want details of these valves, click on http://www.IFollowLinksWithoutCheckingCosImAnIdiot.com
