| andersbomholdt.dk | An absolutely hilarious report: "Looks / Appearance: The most well liked DPV in terms of look and appearance was the SEA-DOO. Functional, yet artistic. Torpedo was seen as problematic. One diver related the story of the unit being impounded during travel due to its shape and name." I guess it's hard to be a real smart ass macho diver in these times of global terrorism... ![]() and one more: "Shore Diving Preferences: SEA-DOO was the clear leader. Diver #2 made the comment “I would take two SEA-DOO Seascooters before I would take anything else.” Shore diving???? seems like they tested that bastard scooter to its limits ![]() best anders |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You know, I know you guys are having fun with this, but this kind of attitude is what turns people off from DIR divers. Nobody is going to take a SeaDoo a mile into a cave, or 250 feet down on a wreck. But people like my husband, who don't do technical diving, find using a scooter to be fun from time to time, and would love to own one. But a multi-thousand-dollar price tag is ridiculous for a toy. The makers of the SeaDoo are seeing a potential market to tap which is NOT technical divers. But it exists, and just because such people aren't interested in paying a premium for performance and reliability they neither need nor can afford, doesn't make the product something to sneer at. It is appropriate for the target market. |

If you're mapping caves, or doing archaeological projects on Roman wrecks, you need a powerful and reliable device. If you want to make it all the way out to the outer boundary of our local underwater park, you don't, and you don't want to spend three thousand dollars on something to have a little more fun on Saturday afternoon. Or maybe you do -- after all, I just bought a new Salvo light. Hmm. I'll buy the argument that perhaps the rating agency should not have involved itself with doing this. |
