Cool

Hello everyone,

My name is Dirk, 23 years old and I live in a small place near Eindhoven, The Netherlands. I've been reading up a bit on these forums and finally decided to register. I've got my OWD at the moment and starting AOW and Rescue around april this year. I've started slowly replacing stuff for DIR equipment, since im a student I dont have a hell of a lot of money to spend. So it's going to take me a while . Next thing on the list is a new set of regs and a proper torch and then if I win the lottery maybe a nice Santi drysuit. (nothing wrong with dreaming right? )

Also hoping to find some DIR minded buddies here to dive with. I know a few already but one can never dive enough.

Regards,
Dirk

Welcome!!!

I know the student feeling ... so much gear, soo little money! Just buy little and often to acquire the bits you need!

Try not going to the union once a month - that will save you atleast 50 euros!! Do you guys get one euro pints in your union?

Best wishes,

Chris

Thanks guys,

@Chris: Depends where I go but it's anywhere between 0,75-2,00 euro for a beer. Not even a pint, just a small one . But yeah im trying to save up a bit by being the designated driver hehe.

WHAT???? Oh dear ....

At my union its a pound a pint, or 1.60 for a pint and a shot! With a bit of pre-drink, all you need is £30 and thats the union entrance, all your drinks and a kebab on the way home and you've still got change!

Thats an excellent idea - good luck with that - try and get in touch with local GUE divers so you can borrow gear etc.

Good luck!

chris

Nice to see there's more DIR divers around here! Maybe we could meet up for a dive sometime, when the water gets a bit warmer since I dont have a drysuit yet :P .
Gear update: Ordering regs, SPG and hoses soon. Still haven't figured out what light to get. I'm currently looking at Dive Elements 10w 4,5A light.... decisions decisions....

Hi Dirk,

welcome. Let me know when the water is warm enough, I am from Eindhoven so it should be fairly simple to organize.

P.S. Regarding the lamps I decided to get a good back-up and a drysuit (being made as I type). I personally would keep saving till I can afford the 21W/9A model. I also heard halcyon will be comming up with a LED around march which I am personally looking forward to.
