Tong is on a distinguished road

Hi all,

Have been reading the forums for a few days now and have decided to say HI

Been diving for a fair few years with friends and family but only did formal training 2009.

I would like to say my kit is DIR but unfortunatly it isnt but im working on it. The first bits of kit i bought were twin set, apeks xtx100 regs, and buddy wing.
I still dive in a wet suit but am hoping to remedy that this year.

Opps sorry Pete I should have realised that with your user name.

Is it really so much warmer in the south.

I never used to worry about the cold! i am a watersports instructor so i spend alot of time in the water anyway.
Although i need a drysuit now as a few months ago i had an argument with a power boat and lost so am abit more sensative to the cold now

That sounds painful mate ... do enlighten us before I cast my mind to the horror storries of divers being run over by jet skies ....

On the other hand, you must have a bit of northern blood in you if you dive wet when everyone else dives dry! I recall diving in Stoney when it was 3oC, wind chill must have been -10 and you had to jump through the ice to actually start your dive! And I was wearing a 3mm wetsuit in mid-December.

Welcome to the board mate.

Chris

Sorry to hear about that Pete.

Chris I think as a water sports instructor Pete knows the difference between a Jetski and a power boat.

And the point of that comment is what?

My point is that being run over by any kind of high speed water vehicle would be something I'd rather avoid, but unfortunately I know a few people who it's happened to and lets just say they have taken the Lord's name in vain when it comes to a conversation regarding those vehicles.

Hehe I never saw that coming

I was just wondering when I posted my comment, doesn't Stoney Cove do training for things like power boats, jet ski's and kayaks ... I'm sure I've seen a poster about that at some point??

FYI I'm going to do some diving in Portland in march

Chris
