Hi all!
I've just started diving; with a 20-dive BSAC training trip down in Porthkerris, Cornwall. We've been using DIR kit as a club for quite some time now, so it's what I've been trained with.

JohnKendall from these forums is mainly to blame for my diving, and is one of my instructors.

Are you one of the two new JK acolytes who were gearing up at LIDS? If so I think I met you. Have you talked him into a club-discount yet?

Hrm, I was at LIDS, with John, so that's possibly true! As to a club discount, I doubt it, but I guess it's worth a try

Hmmm, Club Discount. Nope that phrase doesn't seem to exist in my dictionary

Hello Christian, welcome to the madness

I find it so nice that there are BSAC (like our dutch NOB) clubs who are going the DIR route from the beginning. We had a crazy thread on a dutch dive forum about the right gear advice for beginners. I am still looking for a team / club from holland with which I could go "GUE EDGE" on each dive...

At the moment I am hopskotching from one dive appointment to the next, but learning a ton each time!

Cool that BSAC clubs are picking this up from the start!

Cheers,

ilya

Unfortunately there is probably only a couple, change within BSAC is a slow process

Winners of Heinke Trophy Award 2008 - BSAC

I wasn't in the club at the time (John will no doubt comment / add to this if I'm wrong), but I'm fairly sure that a fairly large reason for winning the trophy was the standardised kit and DIR thinking...

The standardisation was mentioned, but I don't think DIR was I did manage to sneak a big GUE logo into the report though.

I'm not sure if there are any other BSAC clubs, other than CUUEG that have quite the same level of DIR-ness. Which is a pity, as I think that GUE/DIR works really well in a club environment.

Burn him I was thinking more of Rich Walker's club in addition to John's.
