Grebo is on a distinguished road

Hello!

I'm fairly new to diving but have managed to rack up over 140 dives in just over a year, this is mainly due to having a very active local group of divers.

I did my PADI OW and then AOW. Dived for a good bit until I felt good enough to do my Rescue Diver. Over winter a group of us went to Austria and did our PADI Altitude and Ice Diver specialities.

I have now moved onto twin-sets and because of this I'm looking to go DIR. I'm now starting to get all my kit changed to DIR kit.

Thanks for all the info on this site, it's helped me agreat deal in choosing and rigging my equipment. It's refreshing to have people discuss techniques and give proper reasoning for doing so.

I'm now keen to do the Fundies course sometime, who do you need to contact in the UK to get dates and pricing etc? Also can you buy the fundies course book in the UK at all?

Cheers again from sunny Aberdeen.

Greg

Hi Grebo

There are three instructors in the UK - myself included. Looking at running a course through Divelife in Manchester in June/July if that suits you - or we could see if we could get a couple of others interested in one in Scotland and do one there.

Drop me a PM with your email address and I'll send you some details.

Hi Grebo,

Obviously the GUE Instructors will help you but a good read to set the scene is Doing It Right: The Fundamentals of Better DivingISBN 0-9713267-0-3which is well worth a read if you haven't already.

Hi Greg,

Welcome to the board, you are for sure in the right place to continue your education.

There's a wealth of experience and knowledge to draw on here form all over the world.

And you just happen to have direct access to some fabulous Instructors here in the UK.

As for the book, I know for sure that Rich Walker keeps it in stock Welcome to Wreck and Cave! at Wreck and Cave

Clare Gledhill and John Kendall may also do the same, but tbh I'm not sure ?

I hope that helps.

Cheers

Thanks for all the info guys, lots of useful PM's.

I'm going to try and get the Fundies book and then maybe try and get a group of us from the Sunny North East (The real North East, not half way up the UK) and see if we can get a course run up here. Probably not until later in the year now.

Thanks also to Phill for the great service from his online store

Can anyone give me an idea how much the Fundies course is?

Hello and Welcome!!!

I had the opportunity to visit Aberdeen last. Air Chance messed up our connecting flights to Scapa. The wife and I enjoyed a beautiful sunny day walking around. A photo from that day still graces the desktop of my computer.

Hope to make it back there one day soon.

Cheers!!!

Kevin
