ddiver is on a distinguished road

Hello from Bainbridge Island Washington

New guy here, hello to all!
My wife, daughter and I returned to Washington in October from three years cruising the South and North Pacific on our 41 foot sailboat. The diving highlight of those years was our trip to Bikini Atoll and the dives on the Nagato and Saratoga. Jim(British, retired Major) and Jen the Divemasters were great. Being back in Washington and working in the Aquaculture(Salmon) Industry and diving 2-4 tanks aday in 8.0C water sure makes me wish I was still cruising. Looking forward to the info available on this site. Thanks to all, Gary Stephens

P.S. I have a Mohnsam Compressor with a 2.5 HP Honda that has worn out piston rings. Anybody know where I can get parts? Or perhaps what type of PTFE(Carbon?Graphite? or Bronze filled) would work? Thanks again

Welcome ddiver, there are a bunch of us just across the bay if you are looking for dive buddies.

My prediction is that RJack will be along within a few hours with an answer to your compressor question . . .

PM me if you want to get some dives in.

Hello,
Try Steve Rockiki in West Seattle for compressor parts, not sure about your brand though. PM me for his email to avoid the spam bots (although he's not very good about answering it) - preferred contact is by phone.

There's a large and very active DIR community in Seattle (and we're pretty predictable, as you can see). Give any of us a PM if you want some company for a dive.

One of the best dives I've done in the Sound was off Bainbridge, just behind Blakely rock. Three rock fingers sticking out into the water have beautiful structure and a lot of life. I did it off rjack's boat, but you can apparently access the same place from land.

You know, instead of doing a practice dive at Cove 2 again

How about going to the 4 mile (aka south side of West Point) barges? You and Kirk don't get to dive together. But you both have to do free ascents with mid-water bag shoots.

Using/practicing some real mid-water skills will flesh them out better than more of the same ol' practice situations.

I suspect you'll like that dive, lots of vermillions on the deep end of the barges (95ft).

I don't know, Richard. I think Steve's verdict was that we weren't safe to go to 100 feet . . . :-)

Actually, diving ANYTHING but Cove 2 sounds good to me!
