Another newbie...

Hi all!

Thought I'd pop in and say hello - some of you may know me, and those that do, will also know that I'm not DIR, but please don't castigate me for that!

As an OC diver, I was just about to embark down the DIR route for the challenge, discipline and team attitude that it offered over my previous training agencies, but was swayed at the last minute by shiney bubbless toys so am now diving CCR.

Joined up here do hopefully paticipate in some good discussion about some practices which I feel are common across all types of diving - decompression strategy, good procedures and risk management - and hopefully both contribute and gain something from the excercise. Not interested in any bashing in either direction

So, see you around on the boards, maybe bump into you in the water or on a boat.

Oh, and by the way, according to the only DIR trained diver I've dived with (Mr Chase), I can hold a 6m stop with my feet in the air "just like a DIR diver" so hopefully that will help my acceptance!!

Simon

I've got a mental picture of a diver hanging vertically with his head down and feet up

Welcome to the forum

Welcome Simon.
I hope that you enjoy your stay. I cannot comment on the DIR or not DIR training since I havent been trained according to DIR standards but I have seen and dived with some Greek Divers that embrace some of them... and I must say that it suits my attitude in diving...

I am an OC diver and after all what we all have in mind is diving safe... DIR or not DIR

You mean you can hang upside down from a deco bar like a monkey? I'm glad to see I'm not the only one doing that.

Welcome to the board!!!
