![]() | 200 dives in Thailand, moving home to Oregon Hello. I was fortunate enough to stumble across DIR diving early by trying out (and immediately buying) a Halcyon Eclipse wing after only about 20 dives. I've subsequently worked up to an almost full DIR equipment setup. I started my PADI (!) open water course in October 2005 and have progressed up to the Divemaster cert. I currently have made over 200 dives, mostly out of Ao Nang, Thailand. I'll be moving home to Portland, Oregon in early June and will be looking for DIR minded divers to dive with. I'll need to find a drysuit and become familiar with its use as well. All of my diving thus far has been in Thailand, but I'm looking forward to some cold water diving. I'd like to eventually take a DIR Fundamentals course in the Northwest. -Thomas |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Welcome home, Thomas. Fundies classes are given regularly in Seattle, which is not that bad a drive, and the instructor, Steve White, is a good guy and a good teacher. I don't know of a lot of diving right near Portland . . . it seems that a lot of Portland divers come up here (Seattle) for weekends of diving. You can always try the Northwest Diver BB for local dive information and buddies, although that won't be specifically DIR. Of course, if you do come up to the Seattle area to dive, you won't have any trouble finding DIR buddies! |
