Hi folks,

and another german speaking guy in the board - it´s me MONSTA

Mike introduced me to this board and after i read some of the postings i had the impression that there are a lot of people i know from other boards.

I´ll start my DIR career in May when a Fundamentals will be held here in Vienna.

Welcome to the board, great to read from you. I don't think we know each other, but I live in Vienna as well. Will you be taking the course with Thomas Dederichs at Neufelder See?

No, unfortunately I won't be there due to health problems. I've already been sick longer this year than in my entire life so far combined :-(. I'll tell you my little DIR-F story this year so far:

1) I wanted to do DIR-F early this year with Achim Schlöffel. Had a car accident (not even my fault) ONE DAY before the course, couldn't go.

2) I tried again in March. On the way to Attersee, I blew a tire on the Westautobahn at 130 kilometers per hour AND my cell phone broke. I changed the tire and drove on... Once I arrived, I got sick. On the second day, my ears were so completely closed that I couldn't get any deeper than 2 meters, and I was developing a healthy fever. So I drove home, course unfinished...

3) Last week, on Tuesday, I felt sick and went to bed early. Next morning, I collapsed and was rushed to the hospital with weird heart-related issues. I just got out of hospital yesterday. It seems to have been an infection of the heart muscle, though nobody knows for sure. It's now extremely likely that I have not suffered any permanent damage, but the doctors stated very clearly that diving in the beginning of May is not an option.

So no, we'll probably not see each other at Neufelder See for the DIR-F :-) Perhaps we can jump in there a few weeks later? Let's keep in touch :-)

Gosh - hope you are OK....

Courses can wait (although the call of diving will be heard quite quickly I'm sure) Look after yourself and keep us up to date with how you are getting on.

Thanks Gledders! I'm more or less OK now. I just constantly feel exhausted, like after a long day of hiking or an exhausting match of football. I'm actually rather glad I collapsed. If I hadn't, I would probably just have shrugged it off and might have hurt myself permanently.

For the next two weeks, it's the bed and light walks for me. After that, I'll get back to my life for a week or so and then have my cardiologist check me thoroughly at rest and on the ergometer. If everything is OK then, I'll get back to diving in June...

It really sucks, though :-). I'll probably have to cancel a trip to Croatia in May, too. Right now, he weather here in Austria is amazing, while our lakes still have great visibilty. And this year, I'll likely miss this: http://www.digitale-uw-fotos.de/Seen...runer_see.html (Grüner See, a periodic lake with absolutely unbelievable visibilty, always one of my favourites in spring :-).

@mstroeck: Oups, not the best way to do the DIR-F. But anyway all the best for you. I´m really looking forward to join you on a dive in Neufeld. I´m sure i´ll spend some of the summer weekends with friends at the "Altmann" shoreside. So just give me a shout when you are fit for diving again.
