![]() | All welcome in Scapa, for those who are thinking about we are as DIR freindly as possible when it comes to diving. If you are diving off the boat as a group then you can run the dive as you choose, if you were diving with myself or another staff member then we answer to a higher authority the HSE [Health and Safety Executive]. Which means no deco, though nitrox is fine. It can affect your dive time though with no computer [ ie square profile ]. Hope this helps. See you all soon. Any questions feel free to get in touch. |

Welcome BTW, might see you in August ![]() Adrian |

![]() | Hi Adrian As far as we are aware to operate deco within the HSE's diving at work regs you need immediate access to a chamber [this is why some boats have ended up with chambers onboard just for teaching some extended range / trimix courses]. Although beyond that, we use PADI releases when conducting guided dives, and as I'm sure your aware PADI is no deco. Like I say though if people just want a boat charter then there is no problem with any ammount of deco. What we tend to do for people who would like some guided dives but also want to dive beyond the realms of what we can offer from a guiding point of view is. Couple of days guided diving to get your bearings on the wrecks, and then go your own way for the rest of the trip, as a team, buddy pair or individual. Hope this clears it up. Kieran |

What about all the trimix instructors teaching courses out of weymouth and plymouth. I find it difficult to believe they are all breaching the Diving at work regs.As far as we are aware to operate deco within the HSE's diving at work regs you need immediate access to a chamber [this is why some boats have ended up with chambers onboard just for teaching some extended range / trimix courses]. ![]() | Hi Garf I'm not trying to start a huge debate here. I just tried to make sure people were clear about what we can offer to save any disapointment. Everybodies take on the regulation is a little different. They are available on line though. I fully understand that it would be impossible to run some courses without deco, and you are not breaking any agency regs by incuring deco on a trimix course for instance nor are you breaking any regs to the student it is simply a rule for divers at work. Really wish I hadn't mentioned it. |
