DIR Explorers - the next step in DIR Diving!

Welcome back Unregistered

DIR diving is a fast growing approach to diving. Be it technical or recreational, wreck, cave or reef, DIR diving can be relevant to the diving that you do. Jump in on our DIR forums, find out more about who we are, what we do, and how we do it.

DIRX is a DIR diving forum run by DIR divers for both DIR divers and those who are interested in learning more about our approach to diving. There is a lot of information around on the internet about DIR, we hope to bring it together here, at DIRX, into one resource which each of us can use.

So look around, tell us who you are, what you would like to see from DIRX, ask some questions, post reports of diving that you have done, or would like to do.

Safe Diving all from Graham Blackmore, Brian Allen and all of us in the DIRX Team.

» How often do you service your Apeks reg?

Mar 06, 2017 - 11:33 AM - by dragonator
Apeks UK website says inspection, change hp seat and filter, also full service on 2nd stage, annually. And then full service every 2 year.

Apeks US says only inspection yearly, and full service every two years.

Personally i don't see a problem with just inspection yearly, and full service every two year.
- This doing around 100-150 dives a year.
- Frequently rinsing your gear/proper storage, etc.
- Very good air quality.
- Not doing long deco... [Read More]

» Vobster diving 22nd & 24th

Feb 18, 2017 - 6:34 AM - by DJL
Anyone going to be at Vobster on the 22nd or 24th Feb?

My sister and her 2 kids are going there and could do with some assistance / watchful team member.

They are PADI qualified (OW only I think) and still getting used to cold water, equipment (traditional rec) etc. I'm hoping a dive with someone who has the patience will... [Read More]

» Where to get single Apeks service parts?

Jan 28, 2017 - 10:53 AM - by dragonator
Looking for someone selling single parts like filter, diaphragm, and so on.
I know Scubaspares is selling parts, but only to certified tech's... (I'm not certified)

To make it clear, looking for single parts, not kits, but if they sell this as well, thats just good.

Thanks

Various small bug fixes and small improvements. Probably the biggest change is the new heat map for visualising tissue saturation

» One fix for a misbehaving bottom timer

Mar 09, 2016 - 9:00 AM - by huwporter
So, this morning we did a very enjoyable (despite a murky green plankton layer) 90 minutes on our local purpose-sunk dive wreck, on a hot sticky early autumn day. My Uwatec Digital 330 bottom timer enjoyed itself so much, it didn't want the dive to end, and 6 hours later it was still intermittently dipping to 1.5m and counting up the time.

On a whim I put it in the fridge. And I don't know if it was because the internal pressure dropped as the temperature reduced or something,... [Read More]
