DIR Explorers - the next step in DIR Diving!

Welcome back Unregistered

DIR diving is a fast growing approach to diving. Be it technical or recreational, wreck, cave or reef, DIR diving can be relevant to the diving that you do. Jump in on our DIR forums, find out more about who we are, what we do, and how we do it.

DIRX is a DIR diving forum run by DIR divers for both DIR divers and those who are interested in learning more about our approach to diving. There is a lot of information around on the internet about DIR, we hope to bring it together here, at DIRX, into one resource which each of us can use.

So look around, tell us who you are, what you would like to see from DIRX, ask some questions, post reports of diving that you have done, or would like to do.

Safe Diving all from Graham Blackmore, Brian Allen and all of us in the DIRX Team.

» New Zealand - Dry Suit?

Dec 07, 2015 - 2:56 PM - by Mr Frog

Just off to New Zealand over Christmas and New Year.

I will be visiting both North and South Islands during the trip and thought I may take the opportunity to have a few single tank, recreational scenic dives.

Any thoughts on whether I need to still take my DUI dry suit or will an old 5mm wetsuit be sufficient?

This is a family holiday, so just a few dives here and there - just 30m stuff using single tank, wing etc

Does anybody have any experience of and/or reviews on GRAL Marine primary lights?

» GUE/DIR Contacts in Denmark

Good Afternoon Everybody,

My buddy and I are partaking in a dive trip to Jutland next fall. Coming from the US we are trying to source CCR tanks (4) - similar to the ones for the GUE-JJ. We are diving the same configuration but as a DIR Meg. The tanks that we are looking can be any of the following - as long as we find 2 matching sets:

7L - 300bar - 140mm diameter - 615mm length - steel

7L - 232bar - 140mm diameter - 605mm length - convex steel

» Fundamentals in two parts

Nov 03, 2015 - 6:39 PM - by donners_99
Has anyone done Fundies in 2 parts, it seems like a good option for me to nail bouyancy and trim in the first part and get some practice. Once that's sorted part 2 introduces skills and drills I believe. Can anyone explain this a bit better please and its seems you get 5 day course as well so more time with your instructor.

» Managing Long Hose

Oct 30, 2015 - 10:06 PM - by donners_99
Any suggestion on how to manage long hose without a light canister ? I've tucked the hose into the waist band but it still seems to route untidily and feels quite uncomfortable.
