DIR Explorers - the next step in DIR Diving!

Welcome back Unregistered

DIR diving is a fast growing approach to diving. Be it technical or recreational, wreck, cave or reef, DIR diving can be relevant to the diving that you do. Jump in on our DIR forums, find out more about who we are, what we do, and how we do it.

DIRX is a DIR diving forum run by DIR divers for both DIR divers and those who are interested in learning more about our approach to diving. There is a lot of information around on the internet about DIR, we hope to bring it together here, at DIRX, into one resource which each of us can use.

So look around, tell us who you are, what you would like to see from DIRX, ask some questions, post reports of diving that you have done, or would like to do.

Safe Diving all from Graham Blackmore, Brian Allen and all of us in the DIRX Team.

» Taking my Twinset for a Walk

Dec 12, 2014 - 10:03 PM - by Jack911
So we've decided that we'll do some diving at Dinas, because France is a long way from London and Florida is even further.

That means lugging twinsets up a hill for a considerable distance.

I could just wear my Halcyon harness, but that means all the weight will be on my shoulders.

Better to adopt a backpacking methodology where the weight is borne by a waistband and therefore transferred to the hips.

But how would I do that?

Any... [Read More]

» Anyone fancy a dive: Bavaria next week/week after (7/12-19/12)

Dec 02, 2014 - 4:05 PM - by Elvis
I'm driving to Munich for a couple of weeks at the weekend to visit friends who are not divers, do some sightseeing, etc. I wondering about wether I should bother taking my kit.
I know it's a long shot but is anyone local to Bavaria that fancies a dive?, IS there any local dives? I got a fundies tech pass but since then went all strokey and got a yellow box of death (except it's black) but will dive with anyone (bit of a tart).

Hi all,

Greetings from Singapore! I've just recently completed my GUE Fundamentals with Leon Boey over in Bali, Indonesia. Really keen to learn and pick up lots more DIR approaches to improve myself and find some DIR buddies along the way. Hoping to do Tech 1 within the next year!

» Halcyon/DIR Stockists in Bangkok

Nov 11, 2014 - 5:36 PM - by Frax
Hi,

Me and the other half arrive in Bangkok on Saturday and have the afternoon to do a bit of shopping before heading off down to Koh Tao on the Sunday.

Is there anywhere that stocks Halcyon/DIR equipment in Bangkok, and where is it located (If there is one)?

Thanks in advance,

Matt.

Due to cancellations I have 2 spots available for GUE classes in Mexico.
One spot in a Tech 1 course running from 22-27 February 2015 where we will be diving the spectacular wall in front of Puerto with a huge chance of seeing big pelagic fish.
One spot in a cave 1 course running from 15-20 February 2015 in the beautiful Mexican caves.

Both classes will include a extra dive documenting the specific environments with either professional photo or video... [Read More]

These seem pretty popular at the moment. For those that have these or similar cutting tools, are you wearing them on your waist belt in place of or beside the knife and if not where?

Cheers,

» Cave Dive High Springs - December 4th 2014

Nov 04, 2014 - 4:48 AM - by David Dusek
Hello GUE divers,

Anybody's up for a cave dive on December 4th before the GUE conference starts? My buddys don't bring their gear and I would like to do some dive in Florida's caves. We are arriving in the morning, so I have plenty of time to do dive or two before the conference meeting starts in the evening. So, if someone's free or don't have buddy as well, let me know.

Thanks, David
