DIR Explorers - the next step in DIR Diving!

Welcome back Unregistered

DIR diving is a fast growing approach to diving. Be it technical or recreational, wreck, cave or reef, DIR diving can be relevant to the diving that you do. Jump in on our DIR forums, find out more about who we are, what we do, and how we do it.

DIRX is a DIR diving forum run by DIR divers for both DIR divers and those who are interested in learning more about our approach to diving. There is a lot of information around on the internet about DIR, we hope to bring it together here, at DIRX, into one resource which each of us can use.

So look around, tell us who you are, what you would like to see from DIRX, ask some questions, post reports of diving that you have done, or would like to do.

Safe Diving all from Graham Blackmore, Brian Allen and all of us in the DIRX Team.

Read in Quest that GUE has appointed instructors to research/develop this, there is also suggestions to include this in C2 training in future.

Does anyone have more info? Or timeline?

» One fix for a misbehaving bottom timer

Mar 09, 2016 - 9:00 AM - by huwporter
So, this morning we did a very enjoyable (despite a murky green plankton layer) 90 minutes on our local purpose-sunk dive wreck, on a hot sticky early autumn day. My Uwatec Digital 330 bottom timer enjoyed itself so much, it didn't want the dive to end, and 6 hours later it was still intermittently dipping to 1.5m and counting up the time.

On a whim I put it in the fridge. And I don't know if it was because the internal pressure dropped as the temperature reduced or something,... [Read More]

» Tips from cold water divers appreciated

Mar 07, 2016 - 3:21 PM - by pars
I've started cold water diving more actively in order to keep up with my skills and training, since I have no other option around here other than quarries.

I have simple nordic blue dry gloves with latex seals that go over my suit's latex seals, and have no issues whatsoever with water going in. Hands are always bone dry.

However, even with the inner lining, they're FREEZING. Just yesterday, on a 50 min dive in 5°C water, I couldn't feel my fingers.

» New Zealand - Dry Suit?

Dec 07, 2015 - 2:56 PM - by Mr Frog

Just off to New Zealand over Christmas and New Year.

I will be visiting both North and South Islands during the trip and thought I may take the opportunity to have a few single tank, recreational scenic dives.

Any thoughts on whether I need to still take my DUI dry suit or will an old 5mm wetsuit be sufficient?

This is a family holiday, so just a few dives here and there - just 30m stuff using single tank, wing etc

Welcome any... [Read More]
