Marking individual threads as read?

Is there any way of marking individual threads as read? eg my DIRX "Favourite" is straight to the New Posts page. Looking at this, I may know I'm not interested in reading a number of threads, while others might be of immediate interest, while still others I might want to read in detail later.

Ideally I'd like to be able to do something quick and easy to mark the threads I'm not interested in as "Read", rather than having to open them at the last post, then hit "Back" to go back to the New Posts index.

Does this facility exist? Could it be added?
