How to search for a 3 letter word?

How would one go about searching for a 3 letter word.

Some forums require the use of a * to help out but I'm having zero luck.

Anyone have a clue?

The word index is probably set to use 4 characters or more. Too many shorter words. The admins/mods can expressly index shorter words by adding them to a list.

However they don't appear to be using this option as 'DIR' yields no results :D I'm sure that would be there
