Hi, Just a quick question.........Why did you set up this website????What was wrong with YD ?????...As to be honest ..this is what it is YD in a slightly different guise.. OR AM I JUST BEING STUPID?????..not trying to cause offence..just a question

Hiya - and welcome to the site.

YD is a popular and successful diving site - which many of us here use and enjoy. There is nothing wrong with it but several people here felt that it would be helpful to have a site where people could discuss DIR without constantly having to defend it - or continually have to justify their decisions.

Now, there is an argument which says we should be able to justify and defend our decisions as it suggests that we have thought them through - and I'm not going to disagree with that. But sometimes we may not want to and hopefully DIR X will provide space to got through these things. Not only that, but it saves irritating YDers with numerous posts about crotch strap D rings

or trips closed to non DIR divers.

I will certainly maintain my interest in YD and hope everyone else does too.

In addition this is designed to be a global resource for DIR diving and GUE training.

DIR divers have homes on YD - by far and away the best UK board, ScubaBoard.com and TheDecoStop.com but not one central location globally.

We hope that over time this will become that location we allready have members from Britain, Israel, USA, Mexico etc

When complete DIR Explorers will have Articles, Forums, Galleries, DIR Friendly Destinations, DIR trips and newsletters. We are allready well down this route.

We see this site as being complimentry to YD, Scuba Board and The Deco Stop rather than competing with them.
