Same procedure as for SMB. Attached using loop in the line. Double-ender can be used to ease process of pulling line through SMB D-ring

ok, thank you...I've seen some videos of LB deployment where the divers use a doubleender to link the LB to the spool....but they weren't DIR divers!!!

Re the lift bag deployment. I'm interested to know if you guys carry the spool and lift bag already connected, and in which pocket?
I usually dive with mine pre connected, especially if I'm doing a sea dive, if it's a cave I might not, and I carry it in the right pocket.
I carry my big lift bag in the pocket of my backplate.

SMB pre-rigged in left pocket, lifbag folded in backplate pocket, safety spool (to be used with liftbag) in right pocket.

I should re phrase that actually. It's my SMB that's pre connected, to a 30mt spool, but I've used it sometimes as a 'lift bag' for doing my ascents [a bigger one would be better] For deeper ascents I use the reel that I carry on my butt and connect it at the time.

Have alook at

Question of pockets!!!

But what Monkseal said sounds pretty good.

Left pocket orange SMB reel looped on + wetnotes (low profile compass velcroed inside, good for map navigation)

Right pocket yellow emergency SMB with reel looped on + spare mask

Backplate pocket Lift bag

Bum D-Ring Pathfinder reel.

Most sea diving, especially in currents (and ours 6-8 knots) its handy to have the reel looped on. In an Emergency I don't really want to be looping I want to get that sucker up as fast as possible for support divers, if I need more line (35m already) I have my pathfinder. For wreck penetrations I have my pathfinder. For discovered little goodies a catch bag is sometime carried and clipped off or the lift bag can be used, anchors etc etc found and then all I have to do is unloop a reel or use my pathfinder.

Got it, thanks! I'm sort of close, I've been carrying my wetnotes in my left and anything else that I might require during the dive, as in a spare line cutter, jon line. In my right I put my spare mask and spool/SMB.[orange]
I only carry the one SMB. The only time I've really had to use it was when I was up in Tulagi last month and we were doing our ascents off the wrecks on the reel and lift bag, instead of coming up a fixed line. They were practice exercises in case we ever got swept off the wrecks.

Official Position seems to be -

Safety equipment in right pocket - so that's wetnotes, safety spool, back-up mask etc. There seem to be hotly contested beliefs on wetnotes being regular equipment, but it looks like the standard position is right (I always have)

Regular equipment left pocket - assorted spools, SMB, spare double-enders, etc.

It's so automatic these days I don't think as I pack!
