Well if you a in hydration deficit before starting your diving week then you probably will have a hard time catching up while diving in warm wheather and also you could consider mixing your water with rehydration salts.. but of cause this could dehydrate you even further, short term.

Cheers
Jonas

Yeah.. i also had a student who would get a dry throath during dives. She said that she was drinking plenty but at the same time would drink 4 - 5 cups of strong coffee a day. If I drink, coffee, tea or coke then I need to drink even more water to keep hydrated.

Cheers

Keri,

That's not due to dehydration prior to a dive. You're breathing completely dry gas. As the gas passes your throat and down into your lungs, it's absorbing moisture. Dry throat after a dive is quite common.

Best,
John.

That's not true, it is because you don't have sufficiently amount of fluids in your body to keep the moisture levels in the air you breathe. I get a dry throath if i don't keep hydrated. But when i drink enough water i don't get a dry throat.

Cheers
Jonas

Ya, I've never really gotten thirsty during a dive... other than a dry mouth... no biggie. I was just wondering since I realized that GUE guys go for 10+ hours... THAT is tiring... and exhausting. I get thirsty AND hungry just sitting down for 10 hours! HAHAHA!

I had some kit-kat the other day but the fish went at it. I think I will look for the gel everyone else uses.

I usually sharpen my knife real good right before the dive and bring some pre-boiled rice. if you find some seaweed, you can even make some great makis, but I prefer straight up sushi.

How do you lure the fish to lay down on the seaweed and rice before rolling them up?

Agreed back to my earlier comment about RB gas being moist.. I also agree with Jonas - the more hydrated I am the less I get the dryness of throat. It used to get so I coughed.. which is not a good thing on Deco..

Thinking carefully about my last trip with extended deco obligations, I was a little dryer the first 2 days - probably the hangover from the pre-trip getting to see everybody parties.. hadn't been in Singapore for a year and lots of friends to catch up with! That said the 48hrs of no alcohol before the first dive probably helped..
