![]() | weightdistribution Hey again I have bought a drysuit and now I´m not sure about how to distribute the weight. I dive with a long 12l tank, singlewing, cannister and need about 12kg weight. Where and how can I put all this weight?? John |

| Padawan learner | I use a weighted single tank adaptor and a 3mm stainless steel backplate. The single tank adaptor moves between 2.5Kg and 3Kg from the belt. The 3mm stainless plate weighs another 2.5Kg or so (Are you already using a steel plate?). If you want to move more weight off the belt then you could consider a steel plate (If you are using an ABS or aluminium one at the moment) or a thicker backplate (There are 5 and 6mm plates around weighing 5Kg or so). If you can tell us in a bit more detail exactly what you have we might be able to point you in the correct direction (Rather than suggesting things you might already have)

![]() | I use a 3mm SS backplate and a singlewing with no adapter. When I use my wetsuit I only need 1 kg in one side (and the cannister) and 2 kg on the other side, those I would have in pockets on my harness. To add another 9 kg seems like a lot of weight in the harness alone. John |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | From your post it sounds like you are new to drysuit diving. If you are not, please excuse me. I would suggest putting the weight wherever it's easiest (belt, pouch, borrowed v-weight, whatever) and doing a couple dozen easy dives in your DS. I'm pretty sure that after that time you'll find you need less weight than 12kg. Then it won't seem so daunting to find places to put it. But you are right, if you do need 12kg of weight - it shouldn't all be on your harness. To add to jb's suggestions you can put some in the following places - v-weight - keel weight - tail weight - strapped to cylinder - plate weights (certainly on DSS backplates, I don't know about others) you choose between these based mainly on trim really, 9 additional kg seems a lot. Assuming you're in salt water that's over 8.5 litres of additional water displaced. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi John, First check how much weight you really need if you have not already done that. DIR-diver.com - How much lead? Then put 8kg in the shape of four 2kg block weights on the cambands to the singletank adapter (STA). Place them as close as possible to the STA. Then wear 4kg on a regular weight belt. If you want more flexibility you can use weight pouches like these, Halcyon: MC Weighting Systems and attach them to the cambands and put the block weights inside. Good luck!

![]() | weights Thanks Yes I´m new to drysuit. I tried to get under in the pool with 9 kg and full tank. Not a success, so 12 kg? It´s just a gues, but it´s probably around that area. I´ll try some of your suggestions and then we´ll see. John |
