| GUE Instructor/DIRX Moderator | Updates from GUE - Wing Inflator Hi All, I'm going to send out a few posts with some of the updates that I gleaned from the ITC and my time in FL. Hopefully you'll find them useful, or at least interesting. Please note, These are not my ideas, I am happy to try and give you the reasoning behind them as I understand them. Wing Inflator - Although it doesn't really matter we are now putting both the Inflator hose and the LP hose under the bungy. J |

I really don't think there is any real advantage over having the corragated hose inside and the LP outside. It has been said that you can pop the LP hose off the inflator with the bungie outside, but you can do exactly the same with the bungy inside as well. However standarisation is the important bit, and the powers that be picked one.Gavin J |

| GUE Instructor | Note that with both hoses inside the bungee the entire inflator hose will travel easier, allowing you a certain range of motion between tucking the inflator hose and pulling it free for deployment. If you split the hoses, running the LP hose outside of the bungee and the corregated hose inside, you severely limit the "travel" of the inflator mechanism. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello, Older model Halcyon harnesses have thin bungee cord on shoulder strap to secure the corrugated hose, while newer model wings have surgical tubing or something like it. With the bungee cord, it is very easy to demonstrate how, when both hoses are under the cord, the inflator hose can be popped off with one simple tug. The new tubing just rolls across the inflator hose attachment without catching and exerting the force necessary to pop it out. I know this because I've experimented with both the bungee and the tubing. So my humble advice would be to use the old standard if your harness has bungee cord on the left shoulder strap, and use the new standard if it is equipped with rubber tubing.

Exactly my experience as well! I use well used, "old style" bungie that is significantly looser than the rubber thingie on newer wings. Having both hoses inside sure pops inflator hose off on my setup. Use what works, standards are good but working equipment is more important ![]()
