Diving in the USA

Hello ladies and gents,

I'm currently in New York City (exiled from native UK on account of my job) and kicking my heels as there is not a lot of diving going on here. I am planning to get a few dives in February and wondered if anyone wanted to dive?

I am happy to fly to pretty much anywhere (that has an airport!) but it has to be within the US due to Visa issues.

I am GUE Tech 1 and comfortable with dives in that range however I have not been diving recently so would prefer something shallow.

I have all my own gear with the exception of tanks.

Cheers,

Fraser.

EDIT: Admins, please feel free to move this if it is in the wrong section.

I'd rather move you back here so the team can go diving

He's OK folks - a great buddy - just tell him to meet one hour earlier than you intend to show up and he'll be there on time

south florida is always a nice place to dive. there are a number of DIR divers there and there are tons of dive sites, both shallow and deep.

WOAH FRASER .......... I live in Arizona now but from 1988-2000 I dived extensively ONLY in the North East. Some of the best shipwrecks are just off the Long Island and New Jersey coastlines. Wrecks like the USS San Diego, SS Oregon, Virginia, Coimbra, U-853, and dozens more.

The dive season in NY does not kick into gear until April. But before then you can do lots of Long Island sound diving out of Bridgeport CT, and out of parts of Great Neck --- Once season kicks in there are at least 2 dozen boats that get to the wrecks almost daily.

Check out www.edba.com Eastern Dive Boat Association and see whats available.

You should have no trouble getting in at least 100 good dives this season.

Cheers

Hi Joel,

The problem is that by April I will be back in the UK

At the moment there is very little diving going on here - aside from finding a buddy in order to get to CT I would need to hire a car, which costs the same as flying to FL... so I figured I would try to meet up with some folks further south for a weekend of diving.

Cheers,

Fraser.

Ahhh well you did not say you were only there on a short job jaunt. Give a call to the Jeanne II in Sheepshead Bay he may be running this month if weather is good.

Best of luck......
