![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Diving in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) I've just got a job that will see me working in Amsterdam for the next 3 months. I'm unlikely to be getting home to do any diving (priority would be to see the Girlfriend, I like having balls between my legs ), what's the diving like in the Netherlands? Anyone from on here from/near Amsterdam?

In one word ,very nice.At some places there's more to see than the others, mostly the visibility is around 2-3 m. Most of the dive sites are in Zeeland in the Oosterschelde. And it is not to far from Amsterdam (an hour's drive I should think, perhaps slightly more). Many Belgians willing to meet up there too At some places there's more to see than the others, mostly the visibility is around 2-3 m. Most of the dive sites are in Zeeland in the Oosterschelde. I'm reluctant to bring any of my dive gear with me as I'd have to bring it over in several trips and then back in several trips. I may not be there long enough to do it. I could do regs fairly easily though.

![]() | Dive Spots in NL Hi, although the "season" is allready finished, diving is still verry nice (actually I prefer wintertime, less crowded . When you plan to dive the next tree months, make sure to bring your drysuit (water temperatures are around 4 degrees celcius). It shoudn't be a problem to rent/lent some equipment, but it might be a very good idea to bring your own backplate. Near Amsterdam, you have Vinkeveen. This is a large sweat water lake and is ideal for training purposes. It is, however, quite boring compared too Zeeland. In zeeland, about 1 to 1.5 hours drive from Amsterdam, you have the Oosterdschelde en the Grevelingen. The Oosterschelde is very nice and can be dived at high and low tides. The grevelingen is easyer as there is no tidal movement. If you feel like diving, and need a budy, feel free to mail me (you can lent some of my equipment, just be sure to bring your own drysuit & backplate). If you would like to rent DIR equipment (and a DUI drysuit), I know a place in Veenendaal (http://www.duikplezier.nl/ - also about 1h drive from A'dam) where you can rent everything you need. Regards from the Netherlands, Christian p.s. If you want to get in touch with the Dutch DIR community, make sure to check out their site: www.frogkick.nl.
