![]() | weymouth marine archaeology group Hi Please see below for details of next LUNAR society meeting (the same group responsible for the Earl of Abergavenny excavations and Portland Stone Barge amongst others), in case anyone wants to come along. . . . . . Dear All The spring meeting will be held in the 'Upper Restaurant' of the Old Rooms Inn, Weymouth on Wednesday 13th February (not 6th February as previously given out at the Christmas Bash) The change of date is to faciltate our speaker who is flying in from "foreign", well actually Isles of Scilly. Ed Cumming is to give an illustrated talk on "The Ghosts of Rosevear & the Wreck of the 'Nancy Packet'". This is his new project with a new East Indiaman, a new wrecksite on the IoS that he and Todd Stevens have "possibily located" and will include graphic details of the life of the "actress" Ann Cargill which appears to have been freely sprinkled with "wayward behaviour" and her relationship with the aristocratic Captain John Haldane who died in the wreck of the 'Nancy' with the terrible secret of his pedigree lost forever (or will there be a revelation on the night?). If Grahame Knott is able to attend I am sure he will be pleased to briefly explain his exciting new project with 'Lamlash' which could affect us all and I will show you the exact position of an 18th c. wreck that is in 6 metres of water just ***** metres from the *************** as given to me by the consultants doing the seabed survey. Hope you can all come, do bring a friend, Old Rooms are happy to provide room and screen etc if we are eating, meet at 7.30pm, meal will be at 8pm, usual pub grub £12 for 2 meals should be a good night. Please let me know numbers as soon as possible. David Carter 768442/07867 656 838 |
