![]() | DIR in Perth Western Australia Hi folks, As of today, it looks like I'll be escaping the cold London winter months and relocate to Perh, Western Australia from January until April 2008. So, anyone know of local DIR divers/local club I could tag along with for an evening/weekend dip ? I did dive the Ningaloo reef and Rottnest Island in the past, so not completely unfamiliar with the possibilities, but I can't seem to find any regular divers or club like structures. Of course, if anyone happens to be organising a Fundamentals in that neighbourhood ... Thanks for any pointers, Peter

![]() | Hey there mate, I'm trying the one trying to organise the Fundies class in Feb. In regards to people DIRing there isnt millions but I know that there is at least 10-15 people and thats just the people I know. Take a look at PerthDIveRs.com :: Doing It Right in WA! these guys are the people I know. So what prompted the move? Work or just a lifestyle change? |

![]() | Hi DeepBlue & Liam, A fundies class in February would be just the ticket for me (probably won't have a car nor days off though, so would be great if it is a weekend, leaving from central Perth). Do let me know when you settle on dates. So what prompted the move? Work or just a lifestyle change? Well, I am looking for a bit better weather than London to improve the lifestyle. So, I made sure I got a couple of months work in Perth (Woodside) before I finish my studies here in the UK and have to grow up and such ..So, I guess it's both :-) Thanks for the info, thats exactly what I am loking for, Peter

Do let me know when you settle on dates. Will do. I think the plan is to do 90% of it on the weekend of 2nd&3rd Feb. We have yet to decide to do the theory on all day Friday the 1st Feb or spread it over two evening sessions (31st Jan & 1st Feb). Liam will be flying over from Sydney and at this point probably staying with me & doing the classroom stuff there as well (to reduce costs for everyone). The trains will be running down past my house by then so you'll be able to catch the train down for the theory night/day and at worst myself or someone will probably be able to swing past and pick you up. Seems like it will be a popular course as I'm definately doing it and there is definately one other definate. |

![]() | Hi there Perth people, As a follow up question on the fundamentals (I am defintely another definite for 2&3 Febr if you stil have spot), I was wondering if I needed to bring my drysuit with me (trying to cut down on luggage a bit, as I have plenty of stuff to take already) ? I remember from last year november that water temps around Perth were 20ish C and I was plenty warm for hour long dives in my 3 mill + 2 mill shorty. I gather also that topside the temps will be in the 30s from January until April, so not really looking forward to walk around in my heavy & hot drysuit, but wanted to check with the locals what they usually do that time of year. Thanks in advance for any info, Peter
