OK i now only have one excuse left :D

My shiney new Santi MTM under suit arrived today and i cant wait to go play. Sadly that wont be till the 27th coz of bloody Christmas but hay ho

Any how it fits really well and Feels good with stretching exercises in front of the bathroom mirror which is about as close to water as i am going to get for a little while

So thats the under suit excuse gone for why i cant do shutdowns. I have tried everything else so if this doesn't work i only have the front mounted dry suit zip to go before I have to admit defeat and give up on the idea of DIR training for OC diving. Even cheating and freezing my arse off just wearing a base layer during DIRF didn't really work. I think Rich described the shut downs as painfully slow. Little did he know they were actually bloody painful full stop. My elbow was competing with my shoulder for which could deliver the most pain. The cramp in my hand won.

So wish me luck. I shall soon be jumping in a puddle and having a go.

When you get in Mark, I would seriously consider getting your buddy to take a camera to film you, even if it is something like a Oly5050 with .mov capability. That way you can see what you need to do and what isn't working.

Good luck...

Mark,

My video rig is up and running now. If you want a cameraman for the day I could do with the practice too. You'll know if you can get there I think though.

Personally I just think you're medically not fit to dive at all.

Digs.

What Santi suit did you go for in the end? the 200 or the 400? I'm still wondering in my Xerotherm Arctics (+ base layers) will be up to the job or whether i'd be better off with a 'proper' undersuit.

I got the 200 as i already have a 400g DUI. I was also hoping the 200 would alow a bit more movement under my existing dry suit as with the 400 on I strugle to sort out my neck seel

We shall see.

Quick question. If you sit in your ordinary clothes on the floor with your twinset behind you can you do a valve drill?

Worth a try as it tells you whether its your shoulders/arms that are the problem or gear/technique.

Cheers

I can do it much easier obviously. Far more freedom of movement. I am told my problem is I am barrel chested. I have a 45inch chest which is only 14 inches wide from left to right armpit. I also have a totally smashed left elbow with a 12 degree increased carrying angle, a 20 degree dislocation of the anycraylon process and a 5 degree over bend

So basically Diggers assessment is pretty accurate :D

Well if it works without the suit then it does suggest it's possible. Good luck with the new undersuit. One thing that might help is some shoulder stretches:

Worth a try.
