Help....

Someone posted a link to a NiMh battery sticker for TSA customs use when flying - but I can't find it and I'm in a flap trying to pack for Florida.

Any ideas?

NiMh

Both from Airspeed Press. Of course you should have known I'd have kept the links after Mexico. Although I have to confess they weren't in the checklist I produced

Cheers

Can't you take the "man's light (tm)" and just rent a battery???

When I travel with the light, I generally knock up a “to whom it may concern” letter which lists all the national and international regulations (as per the Airspeed Press sticker but with more detail and underlining words like “safe”, “non-restricted” and “exempt”, etc.) and has my mobile number (make things easy for them and use the American translation “cell phone” and include the full international prefix) and flight numbers, etc. I then wrap the canister in the letter in my luggage.

It also looks “official” to have the same info as produced by the manufacturer of the battery. For your Halcyon nickel pack, the cells are made by Sanyo - See section XI of the data sheet: http://www.sanyo.com/batteries/pdfs/nimh.pdf

Definitely a good idea (and I think checking the canister/battery is a good idea (TM) ) too

I held up security at Seattle airport for 30 mins 2 weeks ago with 2 Video HID light heads, an 18W light head, 2 canisters and 2 batteries that as the nice Policeman said (while he literally called in the bomb squad) "looked like bombs, and no he'd really rather I *didn't* show him the lights working and could I please step (slowly) away from my bags"

They were NOT impressed (4 TSA people, 2 cops and 1 bomb squad person all going through my bags taking pictures and filling out TSA "incident reports")

They were cool about it once they'd checked me out though (good training)

Well I don't need them in the French checklist - I'll mail you a copy once I've added the French road signs

(Apparently I'm too organised)

Poor Rick - he's clearly gone mad. Anyone suggesting binning a trip to Florida when you are going cave diving is obviously derranged.
