| Chimp 4 | A "friend" of mine is having a vasectomy on Tuesday, and has a dive planned for Sunday. Is 4-5 days likely to be enough time for recovery? firstly - ouch.. I would suggest your mate will be very sore for a good few days - if not weeks. not had it done myself - but friends have - and as I said above..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | He'll be wanting plenty of air in his dry-suit then as avoiding a 'squeeze' will be extremely high on his priority list ![]() No personal experience but had a few friends been through the Op and based on them I don't think they would have been willing to place any pressure in that area for a bit more than 5 days. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A "friend" of mine is having a vasectomy on Tuesday, and has a dive planned for Sunday. what does your... I mean "his" doctor say? I know non-dive doctors don't like to commit but what has he said about playing hide-the-sausage? If he's happy for you (er... him) to try sticking your (his?) wang in your (his) paramour's "jardin des femmes" then I'm sure it can take a "dip in the channel".Is 4-5 days likely to be enough time for recovery? Maybe P-valves might be avoided for a while? you don't want water getting inuendo (see what I did?) have you asked on the mdical forum at ukdiving.co.uk? |

![]() | what does your... I mean "his" doctor say? My (ahem, "his") doctor said he would be back at my desk the next day and back to normal physical activity in no time at all.Of course, friends, relatives and colleagues have been regailing me with tales of swelling to the size of grapefruit, inability to walk for weeks, etc. I suspect the truth is somewhere between. Just wanted to hear from someone with firsthand experience. |

![]() | I wouldn't risk it. Sutures (im sure you'll be getting one or two) are not something to be subjected to unneeded stress, especially not in an area thats as important as the one we're discussing. If I were you, I'd do everything possible to avoid any problems, such as infection and tearing. With your health, play it safe. Wait till your doctor gives you the go ahead. Ask specifically. He/she went to school for a decade to make decisions like this. |

![]() | I had the op (under local) on a Monday, took Tuesday off work, back Wednesday. Took my own sutures out after 7 days. I had a 2 week lay off from diving. No probs... depends on your "Wimp" factor.... |
