what do you use to cover yours?

ok.. the 10w 4.5 Salvo has gone to a lovely new home. Its bigger brother a 21w 9 Salvo is sat at home without a carry case.

what do you guys use to keep it safe? an old Regs case? a hard case? an old toolbox? a quilted blanket? or do you just sling it into the dive box with the rest of your gear?

just interested before I commit to a case..

TIA..

Not so much sling, but arranged carefully in the box so it doesn't move around or get knocked too much with the light head inserted into a foam can cooler from Sandals

I realise that most people probably don't bother, but for my new torch it's only an ickle Halycon one but I have just got hold of an underwater kinetics hard case (like the peli ones) from ebay.

I tend to leave mine in my dive bag or box when not in use. I ALWAYS cover the 18/21w style heads with a foam beer cooler thingy though.

Cheers,

Fraser.

When I was using the smaller can (9Ah nickel), I’d 'carefully chuck' it in the top of my crate. With the Pro 14, I loop the cord through the goodman handle and over the back of the reflector, then lay the whole lot in the back of the car, wedged in if possible.

For air travel I’d remove the slug (or everything from the lid up if you don’t use E/O’s) and either carry that in hand luggage (ah, those were the days…), or pack it more carefully.

They’re pretty tough and personally I’ve never seen the need to wrap them in cotton wool, though can understand that reaction given the cost.

Exactly...when I first got mine I was so careful with it till it dawned on me just what a very robust piece of kit it is. Nowadays it just goes in the Dive crate with everything else. Sometimes if I am feeling cautious I wrap the light head in my hood ....but I don't really need to.

Same thing but even without the foam, although I'm thinking about a neoprene cover, especially for protection when it's already/still on my harnass.
