![]() | DIR in the Red Sea? I've jsut booked a REALLY last minute deal to Sharm (£99 for a week) and fly on Thursday. I've been lazy and booked my diving with explorers as well (was tempted to do my Pado AOW whilst I was there for a laugh) but I've jsut been thinking is there anywhere DIR friendly I can pop into for a chat? | New Member | I was in Sharm few weeks ago and hope to get there again soon (well next time I'll definately choose a liveaboard). I also tried to find a DIR (friendly) place in Sharm, but closest I got is Red Sea Explorers in Marsa Alam. I think Sharm el Sheikh is really tourist attraction and it really does start to look kind of a factory. You get on a boat full with people and when you're in the diving site you're dumped over the board and you can only hope that someone remebers that you we're on the board before they leave to jetty/new site. Of course there are some exceptions. There some centers offering technical diving, but not really a DIR facility. -- Aki |

| New Member | I got pretty well treated with my BP+wing and a long hose, but must be because I used a center where there are a lot of people from Finland, Sweden and Norway visiting (also allmost all of the guides and instructors are from these countries). We have more and more people who are rigging the Horgarthian way in here. -- Aki |

| GUE Instructor Site Admin | Well Frase and I took ours - but tbh unless we went below 45 meters they were pretty useless.... apart from on night dives of course when we played lightsabers and scared the fish :D

Had my 10W HID in January for night dives, but I think my team members didn't consider the dive really a night dive. I was behind everyone with another guide and lighted up the whole team. ![]() Couple of weeks ago I've just used my backups. Now with my new Salvo 9A/24W HID I think I'd light up the whole gulf of Agaba. -- Aki |
