My meat intake's zero and has been for many years. Diving is the least of my worries re fitness. Timetrialling on the bike is fine

Diet is important, make sure you become familiar with beans, chickpeas etc. I take Feroglobin (fairygoblin) liquid iron too.

It'll probably only do you good! I've been on a meatless diet for 15 years now. The only "side effects" I've noticed have been positive: more energy, less digestive problems and a clearer conscience. I keep scoring 14 g/dl (the normal levels for women are around 12-15 g/dl) on the hemoglobin consentration measurements, although I've never taken an iron supplement. Never had a problem in keeping up with my meat eating diving buddies either.

A healthy diet is what you are aiming for. It is better with meat but vegaterians are typically more aware of what they are eating and therefore typically eat better than most meat eaters.

Chickpeas or a nice bacon butty, I know which I prefer.

I don't actually eat a lot of red meat but I do eat lots of chicken, Graham is correct a balanced healthy diet is what you need.

Studies show that after a few weeks of dieting divers may experience an uncontrollable urge to consume the skin of a pig prepared on a pan.

If you at any point of your diet experience bacon withdrawal you may need the following recipe for Basagne:

Lasagna Recipe | Simply Recipes

Simply replace the layers of lasagne pasta with fried bacon, you may also wan't to lightly crush some of the bacon and use as a topping when you serve it.

Enjoy.
