| New Member | Hi, find friend to train with you, it's the best way to progress. Give you an objective, 10km running in less than 40mn, Marathon, triathlon, you'll see your SAC going down and you'll support better to stay underwater. Fitness and endurance improve your brain tolerance too. Subscribe in a gym club to learn wich training use to progress. Have fun. 30mn a day of fitness is far better than 2h on a week end. Cheers. | Gadevang Underwater Explorers | according to his profile he is 14, well when I was 14 I could easily do 10km in less than 40min, now at 20 I can still do it, but my time is not as good as when I was 14 :-) it is really great you started diving this early in your life, you will have a great advantage when you get more experienced, as most "adult" people find it very impressive to meet up with a relative young guy, who still dives better than them :-) regarding training, well do whatever you like, run, swim play soccer - the most important thing is that you dont fall into the habit of smoking, or drinking ( at least every weekend ) also girls takes way to much of your time away from diving , unless you of cause can fine one that dives at your level.best Anders

![]() ![]() | Hi all, The cheapest and easiest way to get fit is to swim regularly. If you're thinking of doing GUE Fundies then this will help towards the swim test requirements.I've just gone over to the dir dive configuration, with new gear and all, but i want to go the complete dir way. My only problem with dir is my pure disdain for fitness. I just cant get the motivation and even when i do, i dont really know what exercises i should be doing. Also im a bit young and dont want to overdo it...if you no what i mean, So any help would be great! Cheers Dion Ideally swim with some like minded friends at a time when it is not too busy so you can pace yourself. Once you've got your timings sorted you can then work on improving them over a number of weeks. This will give you some motivation despite your reluctance to get too involved in a strict fitness regime. Also, it helps to have some form of coaching literature to help improve technique. For many years I've followed the advice of Steve Tarpinian in his book The Essential Swimmer (ISBN 1-55821-386-4) which gives good tips on both technique and training for all levels of swimmer.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The cheapest and easiest way to get fit is to swim regularly. Or just cycle/walk/run wherever you need to go :-). Cheap, saves time (compared to having to go to a gym or pool or whatever) and good for the environment too!I know my level of fitness is only maintained by cycling 12 km into work every day. In fact it is addictive: if I do not cycle a couple of days (because of bad weather, to tired,...) and take the bus instead, I just get all fidgety and can't wait to get back on that bike! I am afraid I do not have enough self control to get back out to do some sport every day after work. I am always to tired, or convince myself deserve a rest, don't have time,... . Just find something you enjoy doing and is not too hard to do on a regular basis. Any sport will help you raise your level of fitness, whether it is by running (athletics, ball games,...), cycling, swimming, rowing etc.
