| New Member | I switched to a low GI diet in January and lost about a stone, so it does work! I used a GI diet that was dictated to me by my diabetic dad. I lost about 50Kg. I don't know how many stone that is, but it is probably a lot.Damn I miss toast..... There is a pitfal though. Your metabolism slows down a bit and you run a HIGH RISK of gaining back pretty quick. Once you reach a goal, you have to go a bit under it and work your way into more "regular eating". The great thing about it is that you banish cravings! A small plate of salad suddenly feels just as good as those MASSIVE spaghatties used to ![]() If you miss toast, you can use some whole wheat bread for breakfast in smaller amounts. Whole wheat won't give you a insulin rush, so it is OK (as long as you have reached your goals).

| New Member | I don't either, but I know it is almost my whole girlfriend! How much did you weigh to start with? I sstarted roughly 145Kg and ended up 93. Mind you, that was not too good, as I had probably lost some bone (imagine a finding a femur in the dunny ) and also muscle loss etc (although I don't really know how it all works).Afterwards I did a 6 month intensive weight training. As a matter of measure I started barley able to bench press 30KG 5 times and in the end of the 6 months I was pushing 100Kg the same number. During this time, I gained around 10Kg and lost around 3cm off my waist. It was actually quite a journey! Since my aim was not to actually build large muscles, I did not need to use protein supplements or even creatine. Now, lets here more about your 50Kg girlfriend she sounds pretty! Any pictures ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The point is not to cut out all carbs, just the wrong ones like bread and pasta etc. Guess what, you can eat as much brocolli as you like! The key is to have the right balance, this is easier to achieve with good old brocolli than starchy stuff like pasta. |
