| New Member | Freestyle drill video Finally! YouTube - Freestyle Drills This is the artist's version so it has a lot more "spark" than you would normally get swimming laps in a pool, hehe (huge thanks to Mr. Frank Brechbiel for his hard work) ...but it gives you a visual of the drills I described here: Swim training 2 sessions per week beginner. I substituted "Triple Touch" for the "Zipper Drill" - it has the same concept of training the path of the recovering arm and getting the swimmer on their side, but triple touch is a little better in that it forces your recovering elbow and arm to stay a little higher. Keep that elbow high! I also added in "Straight Arm", which is mostly a focus on reaching up high with a straight arm (although mine is slightly bent in the video) and reaching out far in front before entering the water. Again, this forces you to get all the way on your side as you reach up, and to get a good reach out front (in the drill you are overexaggerating how far you would reach out front before hand entry in a normal freestyle swim). If you follow a similar workout as the one posted, you can do several 25's of these, just as with the other drills. Throughout all of these drills, remember to keep your head in freestyle position and rotate so your body rolls from one side to the other. Make sure you keep the palm of the hand out in front facing down towards the bottom of the pool. The underwater swim is still being processed, so I decided to post what we have since you guys have been SO patient. I will post the rest as soon as it is ready to go up. If you have any questions, please PM me! Thank you for your patience! Good luck and have a great swim, Dawn Last edited by Dawn; August 3rd, 2007 at 06:03 AM. |

| New Member | You're welcome guys! I asked Frank that the version with the underwater swim clips is a toned down, straightforward one in case the 'special effects' were a little dizzying Who knew swimming could be so crazy and exciting?! heheFYI, I didn't really explain Triple Touch freestyle. After you finish your pull and go into the arm recovery, life your elbow high and touch your hip, then your shoulder, then your head with your fingertip as your arm moves forward, then reach out in front before hand re-entry. Again, keep the head still, roll the torso. The more you are on your side, the easier it is to do this drill and keep your elbow up high. If you guys have any additional questions (I've fielded a few so far) about the drills, please don't hesitate to contact me. Have a great swim, Dawn Last edited by Dawn; August 8th, 2007 at 06:04 AM. |
