I've been thinking about/looking for an alternative to my 2XL Turtles, which are a bit heavy for air travel. I really can't get on with my old rec fins any more - too long, narrow and floppy.
Hollis F1s seem to be slightly lighter, but not by a huge margin, and are quite pricey.
The new Spro 'Jet Sport' fins JET SPORT - SCUBAPRO-UWATEC (http://www.scubapro.com/americas/english/scubapro-products/fins/blade-fins/jet-sport) don't seem to resemble jet fins at all, and as long, narrow and floppy as any rec fin, or am I mistaken?
Any advice?
Thanks

I want to buy my first SMB but to be perfectly honest I have no idea as to what size to buy and which brand. Also I am not sure whether to go for one with an oral inflation device fitted - although I do like this idea as I have heard all sorts of stories about people having problems trying to inflate an SMB with a dry suit hose or wing inflator.

Will be using it for sea diving and will hpefully be using it on the fundamentals and tech 1 etc courses so I want to make sure I get the right one, I am sure you guys/gals can help. Have read that the 'frog' smb is popular on here so was considering one of those.

PS: I have got a seatec nipple on drysuit inflator and the same (apparently) on my halcyon wing.

Many thanks as always!

Hi

I am considering a change of undersuits when the winter kicks in and am starting to think about layering.

I know that anyone who uses merino wool as a base layer swears by it but I want to know if the dry base from fourth element is better/worse/the same. I don't want to go on price, I want the stuff that will last and keep me warm.

Cheers, Joe

Hello all,

I would like some advice, and it would be great to hear from who had to make these decisions already:

Reguators: I am basically considering Scubapro MK2+S600 vs Apeks Tek3 or XTX series (the corresponding Halcyons are also under consideration)
- What are advantages and disadvantages of he configuration of hoses?
- How easy / hard to breathe they are compared to each other?
- Any difference in durability / reliability?
- What other considerations you have beyond price?

Cylinders: Here the basic question is Luxfer x Faber (the ones I have easier access to)
- So what are he trade-offs in durability, after-sales, and servicing requirements?

Manifold: Basic question around Halcyon vs DiveRite
- Any difference in he knobs to take into consideration?
- Strength of the connections would be a decision factor? Any recommendation?

In general, any other recommendation to keep in mind when assembling this kit?

Any insights would help, thanks.

Folks, I am starting to configure my first doubles, and changing regulators for dives in Fundamentals and Trimix levels. Need a new reel for SMB. Will probably be mostly using dry gloves so I was wondering which defender reel to go for? The coldwater or standard reel, I assume the standard reel is less bulky so that would be preferable if can use with drygloves with liners underneath.

Many thanks!

Hi

When I started drysuit diving I got myself a set of Fourth Element Artics, if I'm honest for no other reason other than it seemed to be what everyone else had. It would seem however that within the dir/gue community most people are using one piece undersuits. Is there any reason for this? Are there any differences between separates and one piece or is it just a case of whatever keeps you warm?
